I'm a historian and sometime journalist who is interested in politics and power. My first book was about finance and infrastructure in early America, and I'm working on a new book about Aaron Burr and corruption.

 

I'm also the director of the Honors College at Rutgers University-Newark, where I try to create opportunities for students and faculty to connect in engaging, interdisciplinary courses, research labs, and intellectually-grounded projects that bridge campus and the region I've called home for my entire life.
